The first Strasbourg Christmas market was held around the famous cathedral in 1570. Thanks to its authentic character and the high quality of the goods on offer, its appeal has grown steadily ever since. Each wooden hut has many surprises and treasures in store for you. The big Christmas tree
At 30 metres high, the large Christmas tree in the heart of Strasbourg is the symbol of Strasbourg, the Christmas capital.

The ice rink
Visitors of all ages can skate on the 300 m² ice rink on Place Dauphine at the entrance to the Rivetoile shopping centre. A special area for children and an entertainment programme on the ice create a traditional Christmas atmosphere.

The Christmas illuminations
In the run-up to Christmas, the city dresses up in its most beautiful garb.  In Strasbourg, the streets, houses, church façades, windows and balconies are illuminated by thousands of lights.
