The world's most famous nanny comes to the Lake Thun stage in summer 2024. Travelling by bus to the Lake Thun Festival for the musical MARY POPPINS
From 10 July to 24 August 2024, the Thunerseespiele will be presenting the musical Mary Poppins on the Thun Lake Stage.
The most famous nanny in the world
The musical MARY POPPINS tells the story of the Banks family. Their children Jane and Michael dance around on their nanny's nose. The parents decide: They urgently need a new nanny. But the Banks couple have clear ideas about what the nanny should be like. None of the applicants has the necessary rigour. The appointment of Mary Poppins brings a breath of fresh air into the house. The young woman organises everyday life with Jane and Michael with humour and sensitivity. She takes them on numerous magical adventures and dream journeys. This not only changes the nature of the children, but also the dynamics of the whole family.
Well-known film template
For many people, Walt Disney's 1965 film MARY POPPINS with Julie Andrews is a formative childhood memory. It is based on the book by author Pamela L. Travers, published in 1934, and forms the template for the musical adaptation, which premiered in 2004 at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End. The musical celebrated an impressive triumphal march: over 12 million people worldwide have seen MARY POPPINS on the musical stage. It has been translated into nine languages and received over 30 international awards.
