The Schwägalp-Schwinget is the annual meeting place for personalities from the worlds of politics, business and sport, as well as Swiss wrestling fans from all over Switzerland. Despite its importance, this festival remains a place where the sport of Swiss wrestling takes center stage and living tradition can be felt. Don't miss this exciting event in the midst of the idyllic mountain world!
Day 2: Arrival & insight into the sport of Swiss wrestling
Our journey begins with a leisurely drive along Lake Zurich towards Schwägalp, with a pleasant coffee break along the way.
At around 11:00 a.m., we will be warmly welcomed by Gerry Süess, a former Swiss wrestler and member of the Schwägalp Swiss Wrestling Festival's organizing committee. He gives us exclusive insights into the world of Swiss wrestling and guides us expertly through the wrestling arena. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to stop individually at one of the Schwägalp restaurants.
In the afternoon, the Säntis cable car takes us to the highest peak of the Alpstein (2,501 meters above sea level) in just ten minutes. Here we can enjoy breathtaking views of six countries, Lake Constance and the Alps – perfect for a quick drink or a midday snack on the panorama terrace.
In the late afternoon, we continue on to Herisau, where we will check into our rooms at the Hotel Herisau. We will end the evening with a joint dinner in a cozy, traditional restaurant.
Day 2: Schwägalp Schwingen – right in the thick of it!
The day starts early: we have breakfast at 6:30 a.m. before heading to the Schwingen arena to witness the opening of the event on time.
A thrilling day of competition awaits us, with 90 top wrestlers from various associations – including 50 from the NOS Association, 25 from Central Switzerland and 15 from the South-West Switzerland Wrestling Association. Exciting duels and a rousing festive atmosphere are guaranteed!
We will start our journey home around 6:30 p.m. – with many unforgettable impressions and exciting conversations among like-minded people.
