Vienna - Styria with Bad Blumau

Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to Vienna
Travel through Vorarlberg and Tyrol to Kufstein (lunch) and on via Salzburg - Linz to Vienna. Check-in and dinner at the **** hotel, centrally located right next to the underground station
Day 2: Vienna, Vienna just you alone...
Full-day city tour of Vienna. Among other things, you will visit the Hofburg and get to know the offices and living quarters of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth (Sisi). Free lunch stop in the city centre. Treat yourself to a slice of Sacher cake in one of the famous coffee houses. In the afternoon, stop at the Prater and enjoy the magnificent view of Vienna from a height of almost 65 metres on the Giant Ferris Wheel. At the end of the city tour, you will travel along the Danube to the vineyards on the outskirts of Vienna to the world-famous wine tavern in Grinzing for dinner.
Day 3: Vienna-Burgenland-Bad Blumau
Start the day relaxing with a visit to the thermal spa, which is open exclusively for hotel guests from 07:00 to 09:00. You are spoilt for choice at breakfast: either enjoy it after your bath in the cosy pool restaurant or let yourself be enchanted by the longest breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant.
At 11.00 a.m., you will set off on today's excursion to Fehring, where you will visit one of the oldest oil mills. Here you will experience at first hand how the typical Styrian pumpkin seed oil is extracted from pumpkin seeds. After a tasting, the tour continues to Riegersburg, where a delicious snack awaits you in a cosy wine tavern. You then take the funicular railway to the imposing Riegersburg, one of the best-preserved and most interesting fortified castles in Central Europe. After a tour, enjoy a marvellous ride along the Castle Road, past the impressive castles of Kronberg, Herberstein, Schielleiten, Stubenberg, Pöllau and Hartberg, before returning to Blumau. Before dinner, there is still time for a relaxing visit to the spas.
Day 4: Pumpkin seed oil and the Castle Road
Start the day with a visit to the thermal spa (open from 07.00-09.00h for hotel guests only). The motto for breakfast is ‘spoilt for choice’. There are two options to choose from: enjoy breakfast after your swim in the pool restaurant or be mesmerised by the longest breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant.

After a tasting, the journey continues to Riegersburg, where a cosy Buschenschank (a farm where a farmer is allowed to serve his produce, drinks and cold dishes) awaits you for a snack. Afterwards, take the funicular railway to the imposing Riegersburg, one of the best-preserved and most interesting fortified castles in Central Europe. After a tour, enjoy a marvellous car journey along the Schlösserstrasse. Passing the castles of Kronberg, Herberstein, Schielleiten, Stubenberg, Pöllau and Hartberg, we return to Blumau. Before dinner, there is still time for a visit to the spas.
Day 5: The magic of the Lipizzaner horses
At 11.15 a.m. we set off for the picturesque region of the white horses. Before we explore the home of the Lipizzaner horses, a delicious tasting awaits us at a local winegrower's, accompanied by a tasty snack. In the afternoon, we immerse ourselves in the world of noble horses as we are guided through the Piber stud farm. This is where the Lipizzaners are prepared for their proud appearance at the world-famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna. But Piber is much more than just a stud farm - the impressive Renaissance castle is also home to the Lipizzaner Museum, which provides deep insights into the history and tradition of these noble animals.
On the way back to Blumau, we make a short stop in Bärnbach to visit the fascinating St Barbara's Church, which was redesigned by Friedensreich Hundertwasser in his unique style. Back at the hotel, we enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and relax at the end of the day.
Day 6: Graz, the European Capital of Culture 2003
At 10.00 a.m. we start our journey to Graz. A guided walk through the historic city centre awaits us from 11.00 to 13.00. We will stroll through narrow alleyways, past lively squares and discover romantic courtyards. In Graz, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque come together in a fascinating way, and we find ourselves in the middle of one of the best-preserved city centres in Central Europe. Together we also explore the highlights of the Capital of Culture year 2003.
Those who wish to explore the Schlossberg can then do so on their own and enjoy the city to their own taste until 4.00 pm. We then return to Blumau, where you will have time for a relaxing visit to the thermal baths before dinner. We round off the day with a delicious dinner at the hotel.
Day 7: Day of return journey
Our return journey takes us via Graz, Krems, Salzburg, Kufstein and Innsbruck, then over the Arlberg Pass back to Switzerland.
